Photographer's Statement:

This photograph is of a tree atop a ridgeline I hiked. It was all by itself, but stood out tremendously. The way it was placed against the sky made it have almost a silhouette look to it. Plus the moss and lichen that climbs up to the rock adds a lot of character to the photo. This was also a particularly cloudy day and it had rained, so I like how you can see the dampness on the rock. This photo really embodies what I enjoy about nature. Just by looking at this you can feel the serenity radiating from it.
