Even Trees Have Hearts

Honorable Mention

Photographer's Statement:

My picture is a heart that was burned into a tree from the Williams Creek fire. The fire burned through Old Orogrande.  If forest fire management had been better, the fire would not have spread as fast. The fire was started by lightning. During the fire, someone’s home was burned down as well as a historical building. The heart symbolizes the good the fire did to the forest.
