You gave us your best shot!

To celebrate Arbor Day, each year the Idaho Forest Products Commission sponsors the Look to the Forest Photo Contest. Idaho 5th-12th grade students from throughout the state submitted their photos, captions and photographers’ statements. First place winners and honorable mentions were named in four grade level divisions: 5-6th, 7-8th, 9-10th and 11-12th.

Photographer's Statement:

I chose this picture because it shows what our Idaho summers consist of. We get pretty bad fires in the summer and that takes out a lot of our forests. In this photo, you can see how green and calm everything is, but also have the reality of the helicopter and smoke. This goes as a reminder of how important it is to protect our forests and recognize the hard work our firefighters put into keeping our forests as green as possible.
