The Old and the New Growth

Photographer's Statement:

This photo speaks to the theme because it was cut down, but because of this, life can thrive. Up in the Boise National Forest, where this picture was taken I have noticed over the last few years many trees being cut down. But because of this it opens bigger medows for deer and elk and other wildlife to hang out. Also, more plants and undergrowth can cover the forest floor, giving the essential nutrients animals need to survive. All of this is because the forest service decided to cut down that one tree, one old tree, a little sacrifice to open the doors to a healthy life for many generations of trees and animals to thrive.
